Most good publishing advice exists in the squishy middle between didactic absolutes
One of the best things about working with so many authors in so many different niches (comics, novels, non-fiction, along with specific genres inside of them) is that it really breaks through any calcified opinions you have about how to do things.
Often, I have told people to do things one way that I know works for one format or genre and been told, "no, I don't do that because of this reason".
And guess what? Most of those explanations make sense. Turns out most people are making the right decisions based on the information they have...
Another one of the best things is working with so many different kinds of people is the ability to say "I know you do things this way, but have you ever thought of this? X authors do it this way and I think it could help you for Y reason".
And that often blows their mind as well, because sometimes people have blind spots about what they can do with their careers.
