I buy friendships
I am not too proud to admit that I buy friendships.
If you have ever gotten something from me for free...it's probably because I think you are cool and want to be friends with you, but lack the ability to verbalize it.
Or I have not seen you in a long time, and I want to reinitiate our friendship.
There are other reasons, but I am shameless about buying friendships, man. I will give free stuff all day...as often as I need to...to get somebody to like me...probably be cheaper to just ask...just IDK how to human that way...so I default to offerings...like you are a vengeful god...and I wish your countenance to rain down upon me...so something.
If we became friends without me giving you free things...man...you should've held out for free things.
It's very effective, though. Very effective. For people that have trouble making friends...free things...man...people love free things...given freely.
