How to figure out what Substack actually paid you in Stripe
Why is it so hard to find out how much you made from Substack? I show you the hoops I jump through in this article.
One of the most maddening parts of Substack is how opaque they are with how much their creators make. I have never, ever, ever in my life worked with a company that was harder to find what you made at any given time.
Every platform aside from Substack has a dashboard with exactly what you have made that is searchable by day, week, month, and year. I never even have to log into Stripe to see what I have made, because it’s readily available.
Then, most of those companies also offer a unique profile on Stripe that exclusively groups their charges. At the very least, they offer one or the other.
Not Substack, though. There is no transparency to see how much you make on Substack without going into your Stripe dashboard, and all of those charges are dumped into one feed with everything else.
