Thanks for writing this. I’m trying to finish my first book right now, and it’s encouraging to look down the pipeline and see where others have been before me. I really appreciate the raw edge to your work. You tell it like it is, which is hard to find these days. Keep going, the world needs more people like you!

Russell, this is hugely inspiring, and totally wild 🤣 The productivity is an unsustainable level, as you've said. And yet it's all still intriguing. I'm a pantster but I want to get better at planning exactly for productivity reasons. I need a bigger body of work! I'm a Forest and I feel it takes T I M E to grow my trees. I'll check out The One Thing and the Ghostwoods post. Thanks.

It totally takes time. The most successful forests find a shade tree, which is a series that kind of does the heavy lifting, brings in dans, and lets everything else grow.

Thank you for this heartfelt and instructive piece on the delicate balance of building a meaningful body of work without losing oneself to burnout. Your candid exploration of crossing talent and popularity chasms, and the relentless battle with self-doubt, strikes a chord. The domino analogy not only simplifies the journey towards significant achievements but also emphasizes the critical need for strategic focus and self-care. For those looking to explore the nuances of productivity and goal achievement further, I recommend the enlightening guide on time blocking technique: https://productive.fish/blog/time-blocking/
