Kat River is a mother and multi-passionate creative residing in the hinterland of the Queensland Australian coastline. She joins our pilot Awesome Creator Spotlight to talk about how she grew.
Thank you so much for offering me the space to be apart of this interview! I didn’t originally realise I’d be the first one. I feel honoured! (How do we go about Australian spelling vs American haha I feel like my phone is always red underlining everything!)
I thought your questions were great and thoughtful and I love reading interviews so this was just a joy to do.
Thank you for creating a space for writers to come together in this way.
Loved it! I just did your quiz a couple of hours ago (I’m a Forest) and had exactly those thoughts in my head whilst reading! Kat is actually the reason I joined substack, although I heard of it through Sharon Blackie two years ago but just couldn’t see it for me, but Kat would be such a great affiliate for this app, she’s so creative at making it seductive. Like wine tasting evenings at a vineyard with a castle and a summer party afterwards.
Soaked up every word. Kat’s writing is so compulsively readable -- felt like this interview did a fantastic job in peeling the layers. Thank you Kat! Thank you Russell! ✨
I really loved reading this, brilliant questions and I love what Kat has to say about intuitive strategy and her intentional boundaries and co-creation with creativity. I am always inspired by the way Kat creates a feeling tone and a vibe around her work that she brings to this space in a consistent and gorgeous way. Thank you both xx
Beautiful collaboration and I enjoyed your responses to Kat’s beautiful wisdom. I adore her honestly and her BS filter. It’s refreshing and exciting to be creating as a mother in this space and owning all of the parts of that. On the drinks front I feel like it was a coffee followed by a coconut water chaser but I’m perhaps projecting because that’s what I’d do if it was hot outside! ✨✨
That's a good one :) I'd love to have you fill one out if you're game. Kat brings a very warm and calming energy to an otherwise chaotic frenetic me type publication, and I think you have a similar warm energy that would be great to feature.

"To feel inspired is not a consistent tap. Though it is a tap that I can turn on if needed."
I’ve found this to be true, especially when I’m faced with writer’s block. You can’t force creativity or ideas. Instead, go live life, observe things around you, and have interesting conversations with people you don’t normally interact with. Expand your views of the world and then come back and write about it.

I just took your quiz...... yup! Forrest!
Ha! I am very glad I was right. It would have been embarrassing to be so sure of something and then be wrong.
Also I’ll likely cross post this next week sometime if that works for you Russell?
Yay! That's perfect :)

Really? I can see it. I love Kat's work so I'm not surprised she was the reason you joined.
Oh thank you Laura you beautiful thing. I’m so glad you’re here now! I was a slow burn to join too but once you see the vision #cantstopwontstop

Oh thank you Lyndsay! Such a beautiful thing to say! X

This was soooo good to read. I've learned networking that matters is helping people achieve their goals.
She's such a dope, brave and vulnerable writer, really enjoy her substack.
Thank you Pách, your comment is super kind 🥰🥰🥰

Already working on it! And thank you! ✨
HAHA Claire! You know me too well already, coffee and coconut chaser was spot on 😂
