A bad book launch is not a moral failure
Money is not an indication of moral worth.
It is possible to plan something cool, do everything right, and have nobody show up to the party when you launch it.
You never know how right you were about a project's potential until you launch...
...but most authors treat messing up a launch like a moral failing either of them or their audience.
Newsflash, it's neither.
It's just...life.
Not everything will work and best intentions count for nothing in the end.
All you can do is make something cool, do your best to explain why other people will think it's awesome, and live with the results.
Win, lose, or draw, the success of your launch has very little to do with the quality of the product itself.
Never place too much of your success on any single launch, even if you had previous success with a title, and mix in new weirdness with tried-and-true hits...
...and never, ever, ever conflate your self-worth with the amount of money you raise or the worth of your audience by how much they buy from you.
